Why live in Rogers Park Subdivision in Anchorage, Alaska?

Rogers Park subdivision in Anchorage, Alaska is one of THOSE neighborhoods.  You know the one…the people who live there don’t want to live anywhere else, and they all have friends who want to know anytime a home comes on the market, since they’d like to live there too.  Not often do homes come up for sale in Rogers Park, but they usually sell pretty quickly.  All this may lead you to ask “Why do people want to live in Rogers Park Subdivision?”

There are a number of reasons for Rogers Park’s popularity.  First and foremost is the location.  As they say, the top 3 reasons to buy a home are:  Location, location, and location.  Rogers Park is located in mid-town Anchorage, just off the Seward Highway and Northern Lights.  This makes it very close to the hospitals (Alaska Native Hospital, Providence Hospital, and Alaska Regional Hospital are all just minutes away!), so it’s a popular neighborhood for health care professionals.  It’s also just minutes away from the University of Alaska, Anchorage, as well as Alaska Pacific University, so it’s a great place for professors or other university staff to live.   With  the greenbelt behind and nearby trails, you can even ride your bike or ski to work!

Rogers Park also offers quick access to downtown Anchorage.  You can exit the subdivision directly onto the Seward Highway, which means you are less than 15 minutes away from the Alaska Performing Arts Center, the 5th Avenue Mall with it’s huge variety of stores including Nordstrom’s and JC Penny, the Anchorage convention center, our  newly remodeled Anchorage Museum, and, of course, many of the Fur Rendezvous activities!

Rogers Park is an older, well established neighborhood, with most of the houses having been built in the mid 1950’s.  The appeal of this is that unlike many Anchorage neighborhoods, there is nothing cookie-cutter about Rogers Park.  There are a number of small, single level homes in the 750-1200 square foot size that range in price around $200,000-$275,000, and there are also larger homes on the bluff that are 3500+ square feet worth over $1,000,000.  This means there are homes for nearly every price point in Rogers Park!
