Daylight Savings Time: Spring Forward, Change your Clocks, Change your Batteries, and Keep Your Family Safe!

It’s that time of year again…time to change our clocks!  Daylight savings time is this Sunday, March 11th.  Remember to set your clocks forward one hour when you go to bed Saturday night.

This is also a good time to change out the batteries in your assorted devices:  Smoke detectors, CO (carbon monoxide) detectors, and programmable thermostats.  This will keep your devices working smoothly and keep your family safe and your home warm.

If you are like me and have forgotten to replace smoke detector batteries, you may be awoken at 3 am by an annoying chirp!  Then you’ll have to find the ladder in the middle of the night, and either search for batteries or disable the detector temporarily until you can get new ones.

Many people forget to put new batteries in their thermostats, and when those go out you will find your heat doesn’t come on.  Most people don’t realize what has happened until they pay a heating company to come out and find out why the heat is off!
